Who Would Play You? By Laurie Beth Jones
While discussing the Academy Awards with friends the table topic became “Who would you want to play you in a movie?”
I had to think about it. Charlize Theron? Cameron Diaz? (I am very young, fit and skinny in my own mind.) Sally Field if she was taller and blonde?
One friend said “Halle Berry.” We all agreed this would be a great choice talent wise. I pointed out gently, I thought, that she might want to choose someone the same race? She snapped back “It’s called ACTING for a reason!”
I think it is eerie, don’t you, how some actors can morph into the charaters they play so much that their physical features change? Sean Penn, for example, has a face made of putty.
Meryl Streep. She can go from a tall, overweight, awkward Julia Child to a fit, glamourous and snake mean Fashion Boss in an instant.
I wonder what skill they have to allow another persona to inhabit them, become them, and vice versa. If you were married to an actor, how you would know when he or she was telling the truth? (Little wonder that most Hollywood marriages don’t last. They fall in love with each other while playing one role, and then don’t do so well when roles change.) Which one is the true you?
So, in this short blog, I will raise two questions:
Who would you want to play you in a movie?
Would your movie be a comedy, tragedy, buddy film, quest, adventure film, romance, or all or none of the above?

Sandra Bullock. A comic quest.
I love this!!! So totally fun and you! Thanks Jan
Henry Fonda in comedy/drama.
Hi Randy, Thanks for your post! This would bring back some great memories of Henry!
What a thought and I could hardly believe what I was reading!
Just two days ago I was laughing with my husband about a ‘way-back’ teaching elementary school memory, and I cant remember what started the conversation sparking the ‘vision’: my colleagues collapsing with laughter after having to take a music items practice while I was tied up in a meeting, demonstrating and telling me afterwards how the children had performed, singing and imitiating my every facial expression and emphasis to perfection!
Who better to play me in a film about my life, only now it would be my grandchildren!
Thank you Laurie Beth, while this is probably not the line you were taking, this has brought such joy to my heart and a smile on my face this morning!

Forgot the theme!
The film would definitely be fun, adventure and discovery!
